Children grow from the ground up

The Spruce School’s first programs are for our youngest learners. We believe that children grow best in joyful, loving communities alongside consistent groups of peers and adults. We prioritize outdoor play and practical life skills alongside an optional 1:1 early academic tutorial model. We are inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia and use an emergent curriculum to foster real world discovery and development of the Hundred Languages of children.

We offer half- and full-day programming for ages 2-5. Learn more about our preschool program here.

We plan to grow alongside our students to offer a mixed-age microschool for primary grades (kindergarten through second grade). This non-traditional school will foster a love of learning through project-based learning alongside a deep mastery of academic skills through tutorial-based direct instruction. By redesigning the school day, we invite space and time for play and care within the community. Families are invited to participate in laying the foundation for a wholly new school structure that builds on best practices while removing the compromises required in traditional environments.
