The Spruce School’s first step is a licensed, home-based, child-centered program for children ages 3-6 in the Baker Neighborhood of Denver. Our (very!) small group size allows us to give every child the individual attention they need to thrive. Joyful play and investigation develop essential STEM, literacy, and social skills. Microschool
Coming 2023
In 2023, the Spruce School will move into a dedicated space and grow into a mixed-age microschool. This non-traditional private school will foster a love of learning alongside deep mastery of academic skills through project-based learning that follows students’ interests. Families are invited to participate in laying the foundation for a wholly new school structure that builds on best practices while removing the compromises required in traditional environments.

Emily is an educator who has had the honor of teaching math, computer science, and environmental education to children and adults across the US and around the world.
The Spruce School is her life’s work, combining best practices from each of these unique educational settings. She is passionate about early reading, outdoor exploration, and advanced mathematics. Emily lives in the Baker neighborhood of Denver with her husband and young daughter.
