Welcome, preschoolers!

Updated to reflect that we are now a licensed program!

Preschool is the exciting first step for many children as they begin their education journeys. It is also the first step for The Spruce School. You can read more about our approach to preschool here and the future plans for the school here.

If you’re interested in building a new way of schooling together, I’d love for your child to be in our very first class. Please read the information below to start figuring out if we’re a good fit. 

The Spruce School might be right for your family if…

• You believe that school can and should be better for children; perhaps you’ve considered alternatives, like charter schools or homeschooling

• You care about both rigorous learning and joyful childhood, and do not think these are mutually exclusive

• You want to spend the next five years (or more!) growing a non-traditional new school with a tight-knit community

Here are some quick logistics for the first stage of The Spruce School:

• Secular, licensed, play-based program in an in-home setting in the Baker neighborhood of Denver

• Four children, ages 3-6, plus my soon-to-be-toddler daughter

• Full day, 3 days per week (Tuesday through Thursday, 8AM-3:30PM with free extended day available until 5:30PM thanks to the Colorado EC Stimulus New Provider Success Grant!)

• We follow the Denver Public Schools vacation calendar

• I expect to participate in the Denver Preschool Program, which provides preschool tuition support to all Denver families
